PCB Provides Shadab Khan's Injury Update for World Cup Matches

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has participated in a practice session in Bengaluru after missing the game against Bangladesh due to a concussion sustained in the match against South Africa. Shadab’s availability for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 matches will depend on the assessment of his fitness by the medical panel.

He sustained the injury when he landed awkwardly on his shoulder and hit his head on the ground while attempting to throw the ball towards the stumps from mid-on in the game against South Africa. Usama Mir replaced him as a concussion substitute in that match and also filled in for Shadab in the lineup against Bangladesh.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a press release stating that Shadab Khan had suffered a concussion during the South Africa match, and, after a thorough evaluation by the medical panel, he was ruled out of the game against Bangladesh. The PCB emphasized that every precaution is being taken to ensure his health and well-being, and he will continue to be assessed over the coming days.

Shadab Khan’s performance in the 2023 World Cup has faced challenges, particularly with his bowling. However, he remains a key player in the Pakistan squad and serves as the vice-captain.

Pakistan’s upcoming matches are crucial, with the game against New Zealand being a must-win for them to qualify for the semi-finals.
