14% Surge in Petroleum Products Production in FY24's First Quarter

The production of petroleum products in Pakistan experienced a notable increase of 13.82 percent during July-September 2023-24, with its indices rising from 81.84 to 93.16 compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

High-speed diesel exhibited significant growth, recording a 25.21 percent increase with its output reaching 1.340 billion liters in July-September 2023-24, up from 1.070 billion liters in the corresponding period of 2022-23.

Furnace oil also saw a robust growth of 13.90 percent, with its output reaching 624.920 million liters in July-September 2023-24, compared to 548.675 million liters in the same period of the previous fiscal year. However, jet fuel oil experienced a decline of 17.27 percent, registering 183.409 million liters in July-September 2023-24, down from 221.689 million liters in July-September 2022-23.

Kerosene oil witnessed a negative growth of 8.68 percent in July-September 2023-24, with its production declining to 24.805 million liters from 27.162 million liters.

In the realm of construction materials, cement production demonstrated a substantial growth of 15.38 percent in July-September 2023-24, reaching 10.528 million tons compared to 9.125 million tons in July-September 2022-23, according to PBS data.
