In response to directives from the Lahore High Court (LHC), provincial authorities have escalated their crackdown on underage drivers and individuals without a valid license.
Official statistics released by the Lahore Traffic Police reveal that they have initiated 4,054 cases against underage drivers. Additionally, 2,646 cases have been registered against individuals found driving without a proper license.
It has been clarified by the city traffic police that cases will not be filed against those with learner’s permits; however, they will be subject to a fine of Rs. 2,000.
Following the LHC’s recent directives, which called for the apprehension of motorists driving without a valid license, the traffic police are taking strict action against individuals violating traffic rules.
During the court hearing, the City Traffic Officer (CTO) informed the court that out of the total 7.3 million vehicles, only 1.3 million drivers possess a valid license.
Furthermore, the LHC has issued a warning of stringent action against Station House Officers (SHOs) if motorists are found violating the court order within their respective jurisdictions. This crackdown underscores the commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring road safety in the region.
