Transgender individuals in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa frequently face brutal attacks, but the horrific incident in Mardan on Monday has sent shockwaves across the province, as two were killed by sword attacks.
Unidentified assailants attacked a group of transgender people near the city’s police lines, fatally wounding two of them with swords.

Reports indicate that the victims, Sham Salman alias Salmanu and Sabir alias Nazuk, were in an upper-floor apartment with their companions when three intruders broke in and launched a deadly assault.
Anmol, the spokesperson for the Transgender Association, stated that the victims were simply at home and not engaged in any dancing or singing; they were there to assist their companions.
The attackers specifically targeted these two individuals, while the others managed to hide in the bathroom.
