Islamabad High Court Orders Imran Khan to Attend Court Today at 3pm in Contempt Case

The Islamabad High Court has summoned PTI founder Imran Khan to appear in court today. During a hearing presided over by Justice Sardar Ishaq, the contempt of court case arose due to the failure to allow meetings with Khan while he is imprisoned. Faisal Chaudhry represented the petitioner, and Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal was also present.

The court questioned whether the government could obstruct justice with a notification, as the state counsel claimed that court sessions had not been held, preventing meetings from occurring.

The judge pointed out that a notification was issued, indicating a violation of court orders, but noted that a separate petition would be necessary to address its legitimacy.

Justice Ishaq asked for clarification from the Punjab government regarding the contempt case and highlighted that security threats cited by the government did not justify barring lawyers from meeting their clients, stating it could hinder the delivery of justice.

The court has mandated an online meeting for Khan with his lawyers and insisted that proper security arrangements be made to bring him to court.

If Khan is not presented, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail must provide an explanation for the failure to do so. The Islamabad High Court’s directive requires Imran Khan’s appearance at 3 PM today.
