Islamabad Court Approves Bail for Imran Khan's Sisters

On Friday, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the federal capital granted bail to Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan. ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain approved their bail petitions and instructed them to provide surety bonds of Rs20,000 each.

The sisters were arrested on October 4 while protesting against the government at D-Chowk alongside PTI supporters. This decision follows a recent court ruling that granted bail to Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, in the Toshakhana case. After securing her bail, she has since traveled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the hearing, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb questioned the investigating officer about the need for further interrogation, to which he responded negatively, noting that the case had been transferred.

The judge inquired why Imran Khan was named as an accused if Bushra Bibi had not declared the gifts. FIA prosecutor Umair Majid explained that Imran Khan was implicated because he held public office.

Justice Aurangzeb compared the situation to that of Justice Qazi Faez Isa, where the husband was held accountable for his wife’s actions, though the FIA prosecutor argued that the cases were not entirely analogous.

After considering the lawyers’ arguments, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb granted bail to Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case.
