Disney Launches New AI Division to Enhance Experiences Across Media and Theme Parks

Disney

Disney has announced the formation of a new unit, the Office of Technology Enablement, aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and mixed reality across its media and theme park divisions. The new division, headed by Jamie Voris, seeks to integrate emerging technologies into Disney’s film, television, and theme park experiences to create immersive consumer interactions.

Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman emphasized the importance of exploring AI and extended reality (XR) as these technologies rapidly transform consumer experiences. The Office of Technology Enablement will coordinate various projects, ensuring they align with Disney’s strategic goals rather than centralizing all tech initiatives.

In recent months, Disney has bolstered its team to maximize this opportunity. Senior VP Kyle Laughlin, who has expertise in augmented and virtual reality, recently returned to Disney, bringing his experience from Amazon’s Alexa Gadgets division.

As tech companies like Meta, Apple, and ByteDance continue to develop lightweight AR/VR devices, Disney aims to harness these innovations, particularly in its theme parks, offering visitors unique, tech-driven experiences.
