The groom, Tahir Mohammad Mamdani, who works in the second-hand vehicle industry in Japan, met his bride, Hanifa (formerly Hozmi Yoshino), at a restaurant. Their relationship blossomed, eventually leading to marriage with both families’ approval. Tahir explained the valima was postponed for over three years.

The couple plans to visit Saudi Arabia on Friday for Umrah to seek blessings. The valima was organized by Tahir’s family and friends.

Tahir, originally from Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13C, shared with The Express Tribune that he moved to Japan nine years ago for education and then began working there. He is now involved in the used car and spare parts business in Seyama City, Japan. Tahir met Hozmi Yoshino, who later embraced Islam and took the name Hanifa, in a restaurant. They began speaking formally, and eventually, both families consented to their marriage.

The bride, Hanifa, shared that she had prior exposure to Pakistani culture through interactions during her studies. After marriage, she has learned more about Pakistan and is gradually picking up Urdu, even able to pronounce some words. Hanifa aspires to become fluent in Urdu, like her husband and in-laws, and is also keen to learn Memoni.

She expressed a heartfelt desire for her son, Muhammad Zain, to experience and appreciate both Pakistani and Japanese cultures so that he can understand the languages and traditions of both countries.
