SAAF Cross Country Athletics Championships 2024 Postponed Due to Smog

The South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) Cross Country Athletics Championships 2024, which was set to take place on November 24 in Islamabad, has been postponed due to the ongoing hazardous smog in central Punjab. The decision to delay the event came after consultations between the government and SAAF leadership, as the smog poses significant health risks to the participants.

In addition to the health concerns, the smog has led to the closure of educational institutions and restricted business hours in affected areas. Two teams were scheduled to travel from Lahore to Islamabad, but road closures and airspace restrictions have disrupted their travel plans, further complicating preparations for the event.
