Inmates at Shahpur District Jail in Sargodha have started producing soap, shampoo, and sanitizers as part of a vocational training program introduced by the jail administration.
The initiative, aimed at equipping prisoners with marketable skills, will benefit not only Shahpur Jail but also other prisons across Punjab.

The program trains inmates to manufacture products like soap, dishwashing liquids, and sanitizers using specialized machinery.
These products will be used within the prison system and sold in the open market, providing inmates with a source of income. “We’re gaining skills with our own hands and have the opportunity to improve our lives outside prison,” said Syed Yousaf, one of the participants.
DIG Prisons Saeedullah Gondal highlighted that the project is a crucial step toward the economic and social rehabilitation of prisoners, offering them skills that can help them build better futures.
The program, which allows inmates to learn the necessary skills in just a month, has the capacity to produce up to 100,000 soaps monthly. This initiative supports the reintegration of prisoners into society as productive citizens upon their release.
