Education Boards Announce Significant Fee Hike for 2025 Intermediate Exams

The Education Boards have announced a sharp increase in admission fees for the upcoming Intermediate (FA/FSc) examinations, set to commence on April 22, 2025. The fee hike applies to both regular and private students, who are required to submit their fees online alongside their admission forms.

The revised fee structure has sparked concerns among students and parents due to the steep rise. According to the new circular, the fees for students in the science and arts practical groups are now set at Rs5,830 for a single fee, Rs7,630 for a double fee, and Rs9,430 for a triple fee. Arts students without practical subjects will be charged Rs5,730 for a single fee, Rs7,430 for a double fee, and Rs9,130 for a triple fee.

Regular students in the science and arts practical groups will also face increased fees: Rs4,730 for a single fee, Rs6,430 for a double fee, and Rs8,130 for a triple fee. For regular arts students without practical subjects, the fees are Rs4,630 for a single fee, Rs6,230 for a double fee, and Rs7,830 for a triple fee. Additionally, an extra Rs1,000 will be charged as a registration fee.

The deadline for submitting admissions with the single fee is January 24, 2025. After this date, a double fee will apply from January 25 to February 3, and a triple fee from February 4 to February 12. Students submitting after February 12 will incur a triple fee plus a daily fine of Rs500, up to 10 days before the exams.

Abrar Ahmed Khan, President of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA), has voiced strong opposition to the fee hike. He warned that this increase, on top of previous matriculation fee hikes, could disproportionately affect private students, particularly female candidates, and may discourage them from sitting for the exams. Khan has called for the government to reconsider and revise the fee structure.
