Sindh Government to Enforce Stricter Vehicle Fitness and Registration Regulations

In a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the provincial government announced immediate measures to ensure the fitness and registration of all vehicles operating within the province. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon outlined the decisions during a press conference on Thursday, stressing that these steps are crucial for improving road safety.

Memon declared that all vehicles, whether heavy or small, including motorcycles, must possess a valid fitness certificate. Vehicles without this certificate will be banned from the roads, with the priority being heavy vehicles. The minister emphasized that vehicle fitness is no longer optional but mandatory for all.

A barcode system has already been implemented by the Water Board for registered water tankers operating from authorized hydrants. This barcode system will ensure that only vehicles meeting fitness standards are allowed to operate. Memon further announced a 30-day grace period for vehicles to obtain the necessary fitness certificates before the regulations are enforced.

Additionally, vehicles entering Sindh from other provinces will need to acquire a fitness certificate from Sindh authorities, as certificates issued by other provinces will not be valid in Sindh. Showroom owners have also been instructed not to release any unregistered vehicles, with registration now required before any vehicle leaves the showroom premises.

In an effort to further tighten vehicle regulations, the minister added that individuals purchasing multiple vehicles for investment purposes will be required to use trailers or car carriers for transportation. These steps reflect the Sindh government’s commitment to ensuring road safety and maintaining proper vehicle standards across the province.
