Kevin Liles Faces Sexual Assault Lawsuit Over Def Jam Tenure

Kevin Liles

Kevin Liles, former president of Def Jam, has been accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed by a Jane Doe, who claims he harassed and assaulted her while she worked at Def Jam in the early 2000s.

The lawsuit, filed in New York Supreme Court, alleges that Liles, during his time as Def Jam’s president from 1999 to 2004, made inappropriate comments about the plaintiff’s body before escalating to physical contact. She further accuses him of forcibly raping her in 2002 after she rejected his advances. Universal Music Group and Def Jam are also named in the suit for allegedly ignoring Liles’ behavior.

Liles has denied the allegations, calling them “outrageous” and “slanderous.” He criticized the timing of the lawsuit, claiming the accuser’s attorney leaked it to the media before it was officially filed. His legal team plans to take action for defamation.

The lawsuit was filed under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law, which allows survivors to seek justice despite expired statutes of limitations. Liles, who recently left Warner Music’s 300 Elektra Entertainment, has worked with artists like Mariah Carey and Young Thug.
