The families of eight Pakistani workers, all from the same family in Bahawalpur, are mourning their tragic deaths in a terrorist attack in the Iranian city of Mehrestan. The workers, who had been residing illegally in Iran for several years, were killed in cold blood by terrorists in Sistan province, leaving their families in deep shock and grief. The victims, hailing from the towns of Khanqah Sharif and Ahmadpur East in Bahawalpur, included six men from Khanqah Sharif and two from Ahmadpur East.
The families of the victims, including the widow and mother of Khalid, one of the deceased, have urgently called on the government to arrange the immediate repatriation of their loved ones’ bodies. Speaking to the media, they described their trauma and grief, and pleaded for swift action to bring the bodies back to Pakistan so they can perform the final rites. They expressed that the delay in bringing back the remains has only deepened their pain.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her condolences over the incident, condemning the brutal killings. She conveyed her sympathies to the grieving families, acknowledging the pain they are enduring. “The brutal killing of innocent people is a very painful matter,” she said.
The deceased were working in a motor workshop in Iran and had left Pakistan illegally about seven years ago in search of work. Among the victims, Naeem’s marriage had been scheduled to take place soon, adding an additional layer of heartbreak for the family. The local community has gathered to support the bereaved families, with many expressing outrage over the senseless violence.
The families are also calling for justice, urging the authorities to take steps not only for the return of the bodies but also for accountability in the case. The tragedy has deeply affected the community, and the demand for justice remains at the forefront of the mourning process.
