Hacking Group Anonymous Targets Russia, Leaks Trump-Linked Data

Anonymous, a decentralized collective known for its “hacktivist” agenda, has once again made headlines with a major cyberattack. The group, which lacks a formal leadership hierarchy, has a history of launching cyber offensives against entities it considers oppressive, corrupt, or dangerous.

Its digital assault on Russia began in 2022, shortly after the country initiated its full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.

This most recent operation stands out as one of the largest in Anonymous’ recent activities. Cybersecurity experts note that while the full repercussions are still being evaluated, the magnitude of the data breach—amounting to 10 terabytes—indicates a serious compromise that could have widespread implications for Russia’s diplomatic and economic networks.

Reports suggest that the leaked data uncovers links between Russian enterprises and foreign interests, disclosing financial transactions and revealing the identities of pro-Kremlin figures who possess assets in Western nations.

Although the Russian government has not officially addressed the leak, analysts believe internal assessments are likely in progress to determine the extent of the damage.

The timing of the breach is particularly notable, coinciding with increased international focus on former U.S. President Donald Trump’s foreign connections. In recent months, Anonymous has escalated its criticism of Trump, accusing him of undermining Ukraine’s position and working against democratic values on a global scale.

In a recent statement, the group claimed: “Trump supports Russia, not Ukraine. His actions are not aimed at protecting Europe, Ukrainians, or even the U.S. He’s here to dismantle democracy, international law, and your rights.”

So far, no additional threats or future leaks have been announced by Anonymous.

The collective remains vocal on social media, frequently sharing posts related to the Ukraine conflict and global geopolitical tensions involving Russia and Western powers.

While the long-term effects of the cyberattack are still unknown, the event underscores Anonymous’ persistent digital offensive targeting the Kremlin and its network of political and corporate supporters.
