A high-stakes meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is currently underway to evaluate the regional fallout and diplomatic ramifications following India’s response to the deadly Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The gathering, attended by top civil and military leadership, is reviewing potential security threats and outlining a unified policy stance. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar condemned what he called India’s “knee-jerk reaction” and “baseless allegations” linking Pakistan to the incident that killed 26 tourists.

“No credible evidence has been provided. This is unjustified anger, and it amounts to scapegoating Pakistan for internal failures,” Dar stated. He also emphasized that the Indus Waters Treaty, an internationally mediated agreement, cannot be unilaterally suspended by New Delhi.
According to insiders, Pakistan is preparing to counter India’s accusations through a robust diplomatic campaign. Officials plan to challenge what they call “false propaganda” by the Modi government and expose the narrative on international platforms, stressing Pakistan’s rejection of baseless claims.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry has already issued a formal statement offering condolences to the victims of the Pahalgam attack, reiterating its concern over the loss of life and extending support to the families affected. Meanwhile, the NSC is expected to approve a detailed response strategy amid rising regional tensions.
