In a move to support digital creators, Meta has introduced a built-in copyright check feature within the Facebook Reels composer. The update is designed to help users detect copyrighted material before publishing, avoiding potential penalties and disruptions to their content’s reach or monetization.
The tool automatically scans videos for any copyrighted audio or visuals. If flagged, the Reel will be paused for up to an hour, giving the creator time to address the issue. This preemptive check helps users avoid demonetization, reduced visibility, or muted audio after publishing.

Previously only available in Meta’s Business Suite, this copyright scanner is now directly accessible during the Reels creation process. While creators can choose to turn the feature off, Meta will still review content post-publication, meaning unflagged violations can still trigger penalties.
With this update, Meta aims to make content creation more seamless and secure for its vast network of creators. The feature is gradually rolling out to more users, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to protecting intellectual property and supporting creator earnings.
