According to Javed Latif, elections should be held on schedule.

LAHORE: Javed Latif, a federal minister, has expressed concern over the timeliness of the elections.

He made the statement during a press conference on Sunday at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Model Town office. “We demand that everyone be given a level playing field for the elections,” he said.

He insisted that the PML-N will run for office on its own platform, saying, “We have no contract with anyone; the deal was always with the people.

Javed continued by saying that the nation must be informed the whole truth if Pakistan is to be stable.

He added that while the PML-N was not in favour of banning any political party or any political leader, those who had committed terrorism would not be spared. At this moment, the nation needed to be united; it wanted to know what the definitions of a terrorist and a politician were.

Latif said, “Anyone involved in the events of May 9 and 10 should be punished.

He emphasised that all those responsible for the events of May 9 and 10 must be brought to justice while also exhibiting Pakistani mercy. The party’s leader, Nawaz Sharif, has been receiving treatment in London since 2019.

In addition, the federal minister emphasised during the press conference that the judiciary should pay attention to the voice of murdered Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif’s mother.

A murderer is a murderer; murder was murder. Whoever committed the crime should be punished because it was a common crime, according to Latif.

Sharif was returning to Nairobi from Kenya’s Magadi Town when he was fatally shot by Kenyan police in what they described as a “mistaken identity” case.

On June 9, Sharif’s mother asked the Supreme Court to include the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and other people in the probe into her son’s murder.
