Afridi Displeased with Shaheen Afridi's Captaincy Removal

Shahid Khan Afridi has voiced his concerns regarding the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to remove Shaheen Shah Afridi as the T20 captain and reinstate Babar Azam ahead of the T20 World Cup in June. Afridi expressed surprise at the decision, suggesting that the move may have been pre-planned and orchestrated by the PCB’s chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.

In a statement on social media, Afridi indicated his belief that if a change in captaincy was deemed necessary, Mohammad Rizwan would have been a better choice. However, he also extended his support and best wishes to Babar Azam and the Pakistan team despite his reservations.

Afridi’s remarks come in the wake of speculation and anticipation regarding changes in Pakistan’s white-ball leadership, with Naqvi hinting at such changes in a recent press conference. The decision to reinstate Babar Azam as captain, rather than opting for Mohammad Rizwan, has surprised many fans and observers.

Afridi’s tweet suggests that the PCB’s decision-making process, including the reintegration of Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir into the team, could potentially lead to disruptions in the dressing room and create instability within the team ranks.

Overall, Afridi advocates for stability and continuity in Pakistan cricket, emphasizing the importance of a consistent approach in team leadership and selection, a sentiment shared by many fans of Pakistan cricket.
