Originally hailing from Karachi, Asad commenced his cricketing voyage in 2007, representing the Karachi domestic team. His debut on the international stage came at the age of 24, marking his entry into One Day Internationals (ODIs) in June 2010, swiftly followed by his Test debut against the Proteas later the same year. Shafiq showcased his versatility by stepping into T20 Internationals in December 2010, displaying his prowess across formats.

While Shafiq exhibited moments of sheer brilliance throughout his career, recent years witnessed fluctuations in his performance, a testament to the challenges and evolution within the sport. Over his tenure, Asad proudly represented Pakistan in 77 Tests, 60 ODIs, and 10 T20 Internationals, leaving an indelible mark on the cricketing world with his skill and dedication.
