Babar Azam, Pakistan’s all-format captain, has replied to the media frenzy around the much-anticipated Pakistan-India match in the upcoming World Cup 2023.

Babar Azam told the media at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi that the national team’s priority is to play well throughout the tournament.

The Lahore-born cricketer went on to say that the Men in Green will play nine matches in the flagship tournament, not just one versus their neighbouring country.

In response to a query regarding the media hype, Babar Azam stated, “If we play well against all of them, only then will we have a chance to play in the final.”

The right-handed batter reminded the Green Shirts that they are well prepared for the next World Cup, emphasising their desire to compete at any allotted location.

The national squad will begin their campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad, followed by a match against Sri Lanka on October 12 at the same site.

It is worth noting that the Babar Azam-led team will face their arch-rivals on October 15 at Ahmedabad’s renowned Narendra Modi Stadium.
