ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Top civil officials rushed to the federal capital today for a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to discuss the vital topic of the national census, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Members of the ruling alliance are meeting to discuss the problem, which has become a source of disagreement among political groups.
Today, the chief ministers of four provinces and some federal officials will meet to discuss the impending decision.
As the country prepares for general elections, the government decided to run polls with the participation of all stakeholders.
The Council of Common Interests’ acceptance of the computerized population census will shorten the wait in elections scheduled for later this year.
