Ben Stokes ends ODI retirement for World Cup 2023

Ben Stokes has reversed his retirement from England’s ODI team to participate in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand and the 50-over World Cup 2023 in India. After stepping away from ODIs last year due to the demanding nature of playing all formats, the decision to return was influenced by the team management’s desire to have him for the World Cup defense.

Stokes in T20 series against New Zeland ?

While Stokes will continue leading the Test side, the absence of scheduled Test cricket until January 2024 provides an opportunity for his ODI comeback. He won’t, however, be part of the T20I series against New Zealand.

The England squads for both formats feature uncapped players. Gus Atkinson, a rapid Surrey bowler with impressive performances in The Hundred, gets his maiden international call-up for both ODI and T20I squads. Jofra Archer, expected to return for the World Cup, won’t be available for the New Zealand series due to recovery.

England Squad for World Cup 2023 :

The England ODI team includes Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, and more. The T20I squad features Buttler, Moeen Ali, Dawid Malan, and others. New Zealand series marks a challenging test against a strong opponent before the World Cup 2023  campaign.

The ODI series begins on September 8 at various venues, showcasing England’s preparation for the World Cup  title defense.
