British Army Delegation Visits Pakistan for 6th Pak-UK Regional Stabilization Conference

The sixth Pakistan-Britain Regional Stabilization Conference, centered on peace, is currently underway at the National Defense University (NDU) in Islamabad.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media arm of the army, the opening session of the conference was addressed by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Chief of the General Staff of the UK Army General Sir Patrick Sanders. General Sir Roland Walker, the designate Chief of the General Staff of the UK Army, also participated in the session.

This conference serves as the flagship defense and security dialogue between Islamabad and London, alternating between the two sides. It brings together a substantial body of subject matter experts across various fields, including diplomats, defense officials, intellectuals, and civil society representatives, as highlighted by ISPR.

A 30-member delegation from the UK, led by Major General Tom Bateman, Standing Joint Force Commander, is currently visiting Pakistan from April 29 to May 3.

During the conference, delegations from both countries will exchange views on the impact of the global and regional environment on national security, regional peace, and stability. This year, the discussions have broadened to encompass regional issues, with defense officials from both countries in the region taking part.

Additionally, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir held meetings with the current and designated Chiefs of the General Staff of the UK Army. Discussions revolved around matters of professional interest and avenues to further enhance bilateral defense relations. General Munir expressed gratitude to General Patrick Sanders for his efforts in strengthening military ties and congratulated General Roland Walker on his nomination as the next Chief of the General Staff of the UK Army.
