British Asian Trust, backed by King Charles, Cuts Ties with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Over Violent Video

The British Asian Trust, an organization founded by Prince Charles III to combat violence, has severed its ties with renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The decision comes in response to a video circulating on social media showing the singer assaulting a band member. The Trust, known for its uncompromising stance against abusive behavior, swiftly condemned the violence after reviewing the troubling footage.

A spokesperson for the British Asian Trust explained the decision, stating, “The British Asian Trust has a strict policy towards abusive behavior and has ceased any association with Mr Khan. We strongly condemn any form of violence whatever the circumstances.”

The incident took place in Houston, Texas, last year, where Khan was seen physically assaulting a band member, using slaps, kicks, and even his shoes. In response, the singer issued a clarification, claiming that the reality of the situation differed from what was apparent in the video. He explained that it involved an internal dispute with a student, Naveed Husnain, and that the “bottle” in the video contained water given by a spiritual leader, which he had misplaced.

Husnain, described as Khan’s student, defended the singer, stating that the video represented an internal matter, and Rahat had apologized to him. He emphasized his teacher’s love and accused unknown individuals of attempting to defame Khan through blackmail.

Established in 2007 by Prince Charles, the British Asian Trust focuses on addressing poverty and promoting community relations. In 2017, Khan was appointed as the ambassador by Prince Charles, actively participating in initiatives supporting projects in South Asia.
