Finance Minister Urges Development of Mechanism to Uncover Tax Fraud Cases

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb visited the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters today and convened a meeting with FBR Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana and Members of the Board to deliberate on several tax-related initiatives of the Revenue Division.

The meeting addressed key topics such as the Tajir Dost Scheme, various information technology projects, and issues concerning tax fraud and counterfeit invoices. Regarding the Tajir Dost Scheme, the minister emphasized its significance in bringing small traders into the tax net and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring its success for expanding the tax base.

Furthermore, the minister stressed the need to develop an effective mechanism to detect instances of tax fraud and counterfeit invoices, emphasizing the importance of recovering sales tax evaded through fraudulent means. Various other subjects, including efforts to enhance revenue collection and the digitalization of FBR processes, were also discussed during the meeting.
