PTI, PPP, PML-N Have Given ‘Written Support’ for New Loan Program: IMF

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have provided the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with ‘written endorsement’ for the new $3 billion Standby Arrangement (SBA) program.

“In recent days, IMF staff has met with representatives of Pakistan’s major political parties and explained the objectives and key policies of the proposed SBA,” according to the IMF’s ‘Country Report, Request for a Stand-By Arrangement’, which was released on Tuesday.

Before the upcoming national elections, all three of these parties — the PTI, the PPP, and the PML-N — affirmed their support for the SBA’s core aims and policies. They also highlighted the SBA’s responsibility in sustaining macroeconomic stability in the next months by anchoring policies and supporting external funding.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have ‘signed endorsement’ for the new $3 billion Standby Arrangement (SBA) program from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“In recent days, IMF staff has met with representatives of Pakistan’s major political parties and explained the objectives and key policies of the proposed SBA,” according to the IMF’s ‘Country Report, Request for a Stand-By Arrangement’, which was released on Tuesday.

All three of these parties — the PTI, the PPP, and the PML-N — have stated their support for the SBA’s basic goals and policies ahead of the 2019 national elections. They also emphasized the SBA’s role in ensuring macroeconomic stability in the next months by anchoring policies and facilitating foreign funding.
