Caretaker Government Hikes Petrol Price

The interim government has unveiled a rise in petroleum product prices, pushing both petrol and high-speed diesel to unprecedented levels. As per an official notice from the Finance Division detailing the adjusted rates, petrol’s cost will surge by Rs. 17.50 per liter, and high-speed diesel will witness an increase of Rs. 20 per liter.

The concise announcement from the Finance Division cites a recent surge in global petroleum prices over the past two weeks, prompting a revision in consumer prices within Pakistan. Following the adjustment, petrol’s new price will stand at Rs. 290.45 per liter, and high-speed diesel will be priced at Rs. 293.40 per liter.

In the previous bi-weekly evaluation of petroleum rates—the final review conducted under the coalition administration—the price of petrol experienced an uptick of Rs. 19.95 per liter, and high-speed diesel’s rate soared by 19.90 per liter.

This upward revision, introduced on August 1st, propelled petrol’s price to Rs. 272.95 per liter, while high-speed diesel climbed to Rs. 273.40 per liter.
