In a Petroleum Conference, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to tap into onshore and offshore oil and gas reserves, highlighting the country’s ample natural resources to meet domestic and industrial demands. Addressing the conference as the chief guest, the prime minister expressed the government’s commitment to supporting infrastructure development, logistics, and security to enhance oil and gas exploration and production endeavors.
Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, the guest of honour at the conference organized by the Ministry of Petroleum, commended the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Federal Ministry of Energy for creating an investor-friendly environment through regulatory streamlining.

The Country Manager of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Ali Taha Al-Temimi, lauded the Pakistan government’s efforts in bringing stakeholders together to formulate policy recommendations and encourage investment in the petroleum sector. The conference saw the participation of provincial chief ministers, the minister for energy, petroleum secretary, government representatives, policymakers, foreign and domestic investors in the energy and petroleum sector, as well as international delegates.
On another note, Prime Minister Kakar highlighted the need for criminal justice system reforms, emphasizing that under the Constitution, only parliament holds the mandate to legislate. He expressed concern over the low conviction rate in the contemporary criminal justice system, calling for effective legislation to address deficiencies. Responding to a question about terrorist groups in Balochistan, the prime minister stated that non-state actors had no right to unleash violence, asserting the state’s responsibility to counter such acts of terror.
In a private TV program, PM Kakar reiterated the importance of improving the criminal justice system, pointing out that legislative business under the Constitution is the responsibility of the parliament. He emphasized the need to enhance the system, especially its lower tiers, to expedite the rate of conviction and counter violence perpetrated by various terrorist outfits. The prime minister highlighted the complexity of the Middle East challenge, expressing Pakistan’s stance on the unacceptable situation in Gaza and reaffirming a joint stance with Muslim countries on the two-state solution for Palestine.
The prime minister regretted unjust criticism for referring to Quaid-i-Azam’s views on Palestine, emphasizing that Pakistan had not deviated from its principled stand on the Palestine issue.
