Clashes In IIOJK: Two Kashmiri Fighters And One Indian Soldier Killed

Two Kashmiri fighters and one Indian soldier were killed, and six soldiers were injured in clashes in Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), according to local police on Wednesday.

The first incident occurred late Tuesday night in Hiranagar, a village near the Line of Control. Indian troops rushed to the village after reports that a man killed in the initial gunfight with police was believed to have crossed over from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Police claimed that another man, who was hiding in the area and firing intermittently, was also killed later. A police spokesperson told AFP that a paramilitary soldier, who was wounded during the clash, died in the hospital. Police said both had recently crossed over from Pakistan and were asking villagers for water.

Hours later, suspected Kashmiris threw grenades and fired at an army checkpoint in the remote Doda area around 100 kilometres to the north, injuring six soldiers and a police officer. The wounded personnel were taken to the hospital, senior superintendent of police Javaid Iqbal told AFP.
