James Gunn’s upcoming film, now simply titled “Superman,” previously known as “Superman: Legacy,” is generating buzz as filming progresses. Gunn, the writer-director, recently shared a first look at David Corenswet in costume as the iconic Man of Steel on his Threads account.

The photo, captured on set by Jess Miglio, showcases Corenswet embodying the role of Superman, and Gunn emphasized that the image was entirely captured in-camera, without digital alterations.

For Corenswet, this marks a significant moment as he steps into the lead role in a major Hollywood tentpole film. The 30-year-old actor gained recognition for his supporting roles in popular Netflix series created by Ryan Murphy, such as “The Politician” and “Hollywood.”

Joining Corenswet in the cast is Rachel Brosnahan, the Emmy-winning star of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” who portrays Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Superman’s notorious adversary, Lex Luthor.

Gunn’s ensemble cast also includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and more.

The decision to shorten the title from “Superman: Legacy” to simply “Superman” was announced by Gunn in February, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project.
