Decision to End Net Metering and Impose Fixed Charges on Solar Users Denied by Power Division

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to terminate the existing net metering system.

The government has also decided to set up a 600 MW solar power plant with Saudi Arabian investors, which will be established on an intergovernmental basis without bidding.

The Prime Minister has directed to send a summary regarding these decisions.

The Prime Minister has instructed to prepare separate rates for the purchase and sale of solar electricity.

The government has decided to impose fixed monthly charges on users who install solar systems, amend net metering regulations, and introduce a separate tariff category.

Power Division Denies Ending Net Metering Policy

On the other hand, the Power Division, in a statement, has denied the news about ending the net metering policy, stating that no such instructions have been received from the Prime Minister regarding changes to the net metering policy.
