Controversy Over MDCAT Exams: Students Call for Re-Exams Amid Paper Leak Allegations

Doctors and students expressed their frustration with the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), raising concerns about the early release of the exam paper. They are contemplating filing a court petition and organizing protests to contest the decision.

Dr. Mehboob Noorani, Chairman of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Sindh, has taken a firm stance against the alleged MDCAT paper controversy. The association’s legal affairs are being managed by High Court lawyer Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, who has issued a legal notice to the University of Health Sciences (DUHS), the Sindh chief minister, and the chief secretary.

The notice calls for the establishment of an investigation committee to address the issues surrounding the paper leak. The leaked document, which circulated on social media the night before the exam, included about 75% of the actual exam questions.

This incident is part of a recurring issue, with the exam paper being prematurely released each year just before the test. Despite prior reports to the management, no action has been taken.

The MDCAT organized by DUHS faced significant maladministration, leading to inconvenience for candidates and their families, with long lines and chaotic conditions reported at examination centers.

In response to the allegations of a paper leak, the DUHS administration reiterated that there was no official release of the exam paper and claimed that the viral document circulating on social media appeared to be a “guess paper.”
