Punjab Schools Prepare for Winter Recess

As temperatures plummet steadily in the region, the provincial government in Punjab is on the verge of announcing winter vacations for schools and educational institutions.

With mercury levels dipping across the nation, governments in all provinces are preparing to declare winter holidays for schools.

Despite unverified claims circulating on social media suggesting an early closure of schools due to cold weather and exacerbating air pollution leading to smog, authorities have refuted these assertions, stating that there are no plans for an early shutdown of educational institutions.

Reports circulating online have hinted at the possibility of early winter vacations, citing government measures to combat smog. However, no official statement has substantiated these claims.

Sources reveal that the interim government in Punjab, the country’s most populous region, has decided against extending the standard winter vacation period. Consequently, schools and colleges are anticipated to close from the last week of December until the first week of January.

In previous years, the government had announced winter holidays spanning from December 24th to January 9th. Similar timelines are anticipated to be followed this year as well.

Parents are urged not to lend credence to online rumors, as the School Education Department (SED) is expected to officially declare winter vacations for schools through a formal notification.
