Chand Mian, a resident of Karachi, was taken into custody for inflicting severe burns on his 18-month-old daughter, Faiza, in a heartbreaking attempt to elicit sympathy and increase his earnings through begging. This disturbing incident came to light when Faiza’s maternal uncle lodged a complaint, leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator. Faiza, who was taken along for begging on the streets, tragically lost her life shortly after being rushed to the hospital for her injuries.

The examining police surgeon described the case as a distressing example of chronic child abuse and neglect. Mian, who has a history of drug addiction, is suspected of deliberately setting fire to his daughter in the Korangi area. The entire family was involved in begging, and Faiza’s mother sought refuge at her mother’s home to escape the cruelty after exposing Mian’s horrifying actions.
