FBR Enforces Ban on Entire Organization from Engaging with Media

The Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a strict ban on all FBR officers and officials, including Members, from interacting with any media persons, whether from print or electronic media, on any issue. The ban was announced through a notification issued by the FBR, which stated that the ban comes into effect immediately.

The notification highlighted that there have been instances where officers have engaged with media persons without obtaining permission from the Competent Authority, which is a violation of conduct rules.

Furthermore, the notification emphasized that officers and officials are prohibited from using social media platforms, particularly Twitter handles, for personal purposes related to the performance and policy decisions of the FBR. Only the official spokesperson is authorized to make statements on behalf of the FBR through social media channels.
