FBR Extends Operational Hours for Taxpayers’ Convenience

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken a proactive step to aid taxpayers by announcing extended working hours for all Inland Revenue field offices. This initiative aims to facilitate individuals in fulfilling their duty and tax payments effectively.

Amidst this effort to assist taxpayers, the FBR has mandated that Inland Revenue field offices will operate until 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 30, and further extend their services until 10:00 pm on Sunday, December 31. This extension of operational hours during the weekend is part of the board’s commitment to easing the tax payment process for citizens.

Enhanced Coordination for Timely Tax Transfers

The FBR’s directives have also emphasized enhanced coordination among various tax offices, including Large Tax Offices, Medium Tax Offices, Corporate Tax Offices, and Regional Tax Offices. Chief Commissioners IR have been urged to establish collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and authorized branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

The primary objective of this coordination is to ensure the prompt transfer of taxes collected by these branches to the respective branches of the State Bank of Pakistan on the same day. This concerted effort aims to streamline the collection process for December 2023, as highlighted by the FBR.

This move by the FBR indicates a proactive approach in facilitating taxpayers and streamlining the tax collection process, ultimately contributing to a more efficient system for both the taxpayers and the revenue board.
