FBR senior tax officials reorganized, approved by ECP

In a significant administrative move, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has implemented a comprehensive reshuffle involving more than a dozen senior tax officers, following approval from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). This strategic realignment of key positions aims to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the FBR’s operations.

Among the notable appointments, Dr. Tauqeer Ahmad Memon, a grade 21 officer from the Inland Revenue Service (IRS), has assumed the role of Director General (BTB), FBR (Hq), Islamabad, transitioning from his previous position as Chief Commissioner of the Regional Tax Office II in Karachi.

Additionally, Ahmad Shuja Khan, Chief Commissioner of the Medium Taxpayers Office in Karachi, has been reassigned to the critical role of Member (Audit/CRM) at the Federal Board of Revenue (Hq), Islamabad.

The reshuffle also encompasses various other high-profile appointments, including Mehmood Hussain Jafari, who will now lead as Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue at the Lahore Tax Office (LTO). Chaudhry Karamatullah Khan, Chief Commissioner of the Regional Tax Office in Gujranwala, is slated to serve as Member (Digital Initiatives) in FBR Islamabad. Faheem Mohammad will take the helm as Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue at the Regional Tax Office in Sargodha, and Asem Iftikhar will assume a similar role in Gujranwala. Imtiaz Ali Solangi has been appointed Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue for the Medium Taxpayers Office in Karachi.

Furthermore, Abdul Wahid Uqaily has been designated as Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue for the Regional Tax Office II in Karachi, while Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan will serve as Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue at the Corporate Tax Office in Islamabad.

Simultaneously, Laila Ghafoor will assume the pivotal role of Director General (OPS) for Compliance Risk Management at the Federal Board of Revenue (Hq) in Islamabad. Zubair Bilal’s new responsibility involves leading as Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue (OPS) for the Regional Tax Office in Faisalabad, while Amjad Farooq takes up a similar position in Lahore. Sajjad Taslim Azam is set to be Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue (OPS) at the Regional Tax Office in Multan. Lastly, Aisha Farooq has been assigned to the role of Director General (OPS) at the Directorate General of International Tax Operations at the Federal Board of Revenue (Hq) in Islamabad.

This comprehensive restructuring signifies the FBR’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities and strengthening its workforce to address evolving tax challenges effectively.
