FIA Arrests Customs Officer for Alleged Involvement in Dollar Smuggling

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) reportedly apprehended two individuals, one of whom is a Customs officer, for their suspected involvement in a dollar smuggling operation at the Torkham border.

The detained Customs officer, Wajid Toor, stationed at Torkham, is accused of actively assisting in the smuggling of dollars across the border. The second suspect, Asfandyar, is alleged to have played a role in the illicit clearance of dollars, purportedly facilitated by complicit customs officials. During the operation, the FIA seized $123,000.

According to FIA officials, the arrested individuals were receiving US dollars from agents at Customs offices situated at the Torkham border. In exchange for smuggling $100,000, the accused reportedly earned a commission of Rs. 50,000.

Both suspects are currently in FIA custody, and an ongoing investigation seeks to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network.
