Foreign Office green-lights Pakistan cricket team for World Cup

As per the confirmation from a Foreign Office spokesperson on Sunday, the Pakistan Cricket Team will be participating in the ODI World Cup in India. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s stance of not mixing sports with politics and reassured that their bilateral ties with India would not hinder their sports-related commitments.

However, the Foreign Office expressed concerns about the team’s security during the tour, which were conveyed to both the Indian government and the International Cricket Council (ICC). They expect full security arrangements for the team during the tour to ensure their safety.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan last toured India in 2016 for the T20 World Cup, and since then, they have not visited their neighbors. The last bilateral series between Pakistan and India was held in India during the 2012-2013 season, while the Indian team has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup.
