Former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been arrested in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, was detained in Islamabad on Sunday night, confirmed by the Islamabad police. Ilyas faces multiple charges, including an alleged attack on a private company’s office.

The detention followed a thorough investigation and legal proceedings. A case was filed by Ilyas’s former chief security officer, who accused him of attempting to seize the central offices and documents of the Centaurus Mall, a prominent shopping center in the capital.

According to the police, Ilyas, accompanied by a group of armed individuals, reportedly broke into the office of the Centaurus Mall. The attempt was thwarted by security guards, but not before the former AJK premier allegedly threatened to kill certain individuals and physically assaulted the security officer on duty.

The incident adds to the former premier’s legal troubles and highlights ongoing tensions and conflicts involving high-profile figures in the region.
