Former Prime Minister Imran Khan Interrogated in Connection with May 9 Rioting Incidents

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan faced questioning by police teams from Mianwali and Gujranwala at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Saturday regarding his alleged involvement in the rioting incidents that followed his arrest on May 9.

Sources revealed that a special police team from Mianwali, led by a superintendent police and comprising six inspectors, arrived at Adiala Jail for the interrogation. However, Imran Khan declined to respond to the police team’s inquiries and insisted on having his legal representatives present during the questioning process.

In addition to the Mianwali police, Gujranwala police had previously questioned the former prime minister in connection with the same case.

Over the past 24 hours, five police teams from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Kasur, Gujranwala, and Mianwali have arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct their respective investigations into the rioting incidents.

The rioting erupted across the country after paramilitary Rangers arrested Imran Khan inside the Islamabad High Court in connection with a corruption case. Protesters, reportedly affiliated with PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), attacked government and military properties and installations following the arrest.

Subsequently, the state initiated a significant crackdown against PTI, resulting in the party’s disintegration as key leaders and lawmakers held press conferences to distance themselves from both the party and the associated incidents.
