France Extends Technical Support to Pakistan for Sustainable Economic Development

The meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and French Ambassador Nicholas Galey marked a significant moment for economic cooperation between Pakistan and France. Minister Aurangzeb extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Galey and expressed gratitude for France’s support in renewing Pakistan’s GSP Plus status.

During the meeting, Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy, citing increases in agricultural production, rising forex reserves, stable currency values, decreasing inflation rates, and positive trends in the stock market. He also discussed the successful completion of the second IMF review under the Standby Arrangement (SBA) and outlined key reforms in privatization, state-owned enterprise (SOE) restructuring, digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), export promotion, and energy sector improvements.

Furthermore, Minister Aurangzeb emphasized the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in facilitating investors and streamlining processes to promote investment and economic growth.

In response, Ambassador Galey expressed optimism about the future of economic cooperation between Pakistan and France. He commended Pakistan’s progress in stabilizing its economy and expressed confidence in the potential for further collaboration. Additionally, the Ambassador offered technical cooperation in areas conducive to sustainable economic growth, demonstrating France’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic development efforts.
