The federal cabinet decided not to impose any new duties on solar panels.
In a meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the cabinet resolved to keep solar panels duty-free to maintain the affordability of renewable energy for the public.
In other decisions, the cabinet approved limited sugar exports after confirming sufficient reserves, with the Prime Minister mandating stable sugar prices and forming a monitoring committee. Exports will be halted if prices rise.

The cabinet was briefed on the swift progress of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) privatization, with bidding set for the first week of August. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for transparency throughout the process.
To boost the economy, the government aims to develop small and medium-scale industries and increase domestic exports, focusing on eliminating elite privileges and ensuring economic security and equal development opportunities for all.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the transit of a container with truck parts from Karachi to Kabul, Afghanistan, on humanitarian grounds, and a memorandum of understanding between Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.
The cabinet also appointed the Executive Director of the Frequency Allocation Board and endorsed the National Economic Council’s annual report for the fiscal year 2022-23 for parliamentary presentation.
Furthermore, the cabinet ratified the decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee on June 13, 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases on June 11, 2024, and the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises on June 20, 2024. The Prime Minister instructed ministers to be present in Parliament during the Budget 2024-25 debate.
