Hareem Farooq Defies Doubters, Reflects on Diyar-e-Dil Role

Star actor and producer Hareem Farooq recently opened up about her decision to portray the mother of an actor her own age in the drama “Diyar-e-Dil,” declaring that she has no regrets whatsoever. Despite being advised by almost everyone she knew that taking on the role would be “career suicide,” Farooq followed her heart and accepted the challenge. Recalling the experience, she noted that it was only her third drama, but she was drawn to the powerful character she was offered to portray.

Undeterred by the negative feedback, Farooq emphasized her simple criteria for accepting scripts: if she likes the character, the plot, or the team she’ll be working with, she’s inclined to take on the project. Adopting a philosophical perspective on her career, she believes that destiny plays a significant role, and she views failure as a mindset rather than an actual outcome.

Farooq attributes much of her success to her parents, whom she considers her biggest supporters. As the daughter of two doctors, she was always encouraged to excel academically, initially pursuing a degree in law before switching to journalism and sociology. Her parents insisted she complete her degree before pursuing acting, a condition she honored.

After completing her education, Farooq stumbled into an audition for a play, ultimately landing the role due to a lack of other candidates. Since then, she has forged ahead in her acting and producing career, becoming the first female celebrity to host the Pakistan Super League in 2018. Her journey underscores the importance of perseverance and following one’s passion against all odds.
