Health Ministry Bans Soft Drink Consumption

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination has enacted a ban on the consumption of sweetened sugary beverages during official meetings within the ministry and its attached departments.

This ban aims to foster a healthier workplace environment and align with the government’s commitment to public health.

The Federal Ministry of Health has issued an official advisory instructing the prohibition of sweet products during official meetings or functions. This decision stems from observations by the Minister of Health that sugary drinks contribute to both communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The minister reiterated the government’s dedication to implementing effective measures to combat these diseases. Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan disclosed that the federal government has initiated a comprehensive Rs6.8 billion program aimed at preventing diabetes.

Dr. Jan emphasized the substantial reforms undertaken by his ministry to enhance the health sector in a short period.

He acknowledged the detrimental impact of sugary drinks on individuals of all ages and emphasized the importance of shielding everyone from the adverse effects of excessive sugar consumption, particularly through beverages.
