A compelling study from The University of Western Australia has revealed that drinking black tea up to three times daily can significantly aid in managing blood pressure. This routine may do more than just provide comfort; it could help lower heart disease risk associated with high blood pressure.

Conducted with 95 Australian adults aged 35 to 75, the study divided participants into two groups: one consumed three cups of black tea daily, while the other took a placebo. After six months, those drinking black tea showed a modest decrease in their 24-hour average blood pressure, with reductions of 2 to 3 mmHg in both systolic and diastolic pressures.
This study suggests that regular black tea consumption could be an enjoyable way to lower heart disease risk, though further research is needed to understand its mechanisms. The findings, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine by Jonathan Hodgson and team, indicate that incorporating black tea into one’s routine could support heart health, alongside other lifestyle changes like stress management.
