Maryam Nawaz Launches Insulin Delivery Initiative for Children With Type-1 Diabetes

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a groundbreaking initiative to deliver insulin directly to the homes of children with type-1 diabetes. During a health sector meeting on Friday, she unveiled plans to introduce special cards to facilitate the supply of insulin to affected children.

The initiative will be implemented by a government-approved company, which will ensure compliance with cold chain protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) during distribution. The pilot project will initially be launched in three districts, including Lahore, with applications available through a dedicated app or helpline.

In addition to the insulin initiative, Maryam Nawaz directed the rebranding of Basic Health Units (BHUs) as “Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics” to improve healthcare services in remote areas. She also approved the establishment of performance management frameworks and key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance the efficiency of healthcare staff.

On the occasion of International Girls’ Day, the chief minister emphasized the importance of supporting girls to help them achieve their dreams. She highlighted various initiatives aimed at promoting the safety, education, and empowerment of women and girls in Punjab, including e-bikes, virtual police stations, the pink button, and scholarships.
