Lahore: US Government Delivers $2 Million Worth of Medical Oxygen Supplies to 37 Punjab Hospitals”

The US Deputy Chief of Mission, Andrew Schofer, oversaw the successful delivery of $2 million worth of essential oxygen supplies to 37 hospitals throughout Punjab. The handover ceremony took place at the Directorate General Health Services in Lahore.

In his address, Schofer expressed the significance of the occasion, recognizing the paramount importance of accessible quality healthcare for the people. He highlighted the enduring collaboration between the US and Pakistan, illustrating a commitment to strategic investments in bolstering Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly in the Punjab region.

Schofer underscored the critical role this support plays in enhancing hospitals’ capabilities to administer oxygen therapy, which is crucial for patients suffering from COVID-19 and various other respiratory ailments.

Furthermore, he announced the delivery of seven refrigeration trucks, donated by USAID. These trucks are designed to safely transport vaccines from provincial warehouses to district and sub-district storage facilities and can also serve as emergency vaccine storage solutions.

Over the past two years, the United States has worked closely with the Government of Punjab on numerous healthcare-related initiatives, including efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Schofer highlighted the provision of 46 ventilators, which were distributed to 13 hospitals, and the training of 142 healthcare workers in the operation of new equipment.

He emphasized that this assistance extended beyond immediate COVID-19 needs, representing a long-term investment in Punjab’s healthcare system.

Schofer conveyed the US government’s unwavering commitment to continuing its strong partnership with healthcare providers in Punjab. He expressed gratitude to the Punjab Caretaker Health Minister of Primary and Secondary Health for their dedication and collaboration.

In conclusion, he acknowledged the significance of this partnership milestone, underscoring the United States’ determination to further strengthen its cooperation with healthcare providers in Punjab.
