Heavy Rains Claim 5 Lives in Balochistan's Dukki

Heavy rainfall persisted in various areas of Balochistan, including the bustling metropolis of Quetta, on the second consecutive day, resulting in unfortunate casualties. In Dukki, five laborers tragically lost their lives when the roof of a house collapsed under the weight of the downpour. Prompt action by local residents saw the retrieval of the deceased, who were then transported to the nearby government hospital for further procedures.

Thunderstorms also lashed several regions including Loralai, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Shirani, and Zhob, adding to the challenges posed by the inclement weather. In Quetta, the provincial capital, streets were submerged as rainwater inundated the roads, complicating daily life for residents. Additionally, clouds brought precipitation to areas such as Qila Abdullah, Mastung, Harnai, Sabi, and Jhal Magsi.

According to the Meteorological Department, a considerable number of districts, including Quetta, Loralai, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Shirani, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Pashin, Qila Abdullah, Mastung, Harnai, Sibi, and Jhal Magsi, experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunder. Notably, Loralai received the highest recorded rainfall, measuring at 33 mm.

However, the adverse weather conditions also led to landslides in the Dahana Sar area of Shirani, disrupting land communication between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Consequently, numerous passengers found themselves stranded due to the severed transportation link. The district administration swiftly initiated restoration efforts to reconnect the highway, aiming to alleviate the plight of those affected by the landslides.
